How do I install Office 2000 on new Windows XP laptop

I have out grown Windows 98 machine and purchased a new
laptop from Dell. I did not buy new software, assuming I
could transfer Office 2000 to my new laptop. The install
program asks for the product key, I enter the product key
and it refuses to install. I know there are issues of
piracy, but this software is licensed to me and I am
transfering it to a new machine and plan on selling my old
laptop. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hi, David,

Usually, the OEM licenses are tied to the machine on which they came. Check
the terms of the End User License Agreement on your copy of Office 2000. If
you want to press the matter, try contacting the original manufacturer of
the laptop to see if they can help you install it on a different machine.
