How do I install Office XP SBE?

J

Joe K

I am working on several computers at different locations for same
company. They have XP Pro with Office XP SBE. These were installed in 2002.
Apparently,Office were never installed on this one computer as when I
click on Word icon the windows pops up asking for user and product key.
The problem is this computer doesn't have the cd for it.But since I have
the cd from another location I am thinking it should work.
I am guessing I should contact the computer manufacturer and see if
there was a general licence for all of the computers. This company has no
idea.
I know the re install cd for the OS[not Office] was, as I had to re
install the OS of another computer using another computers cd. But I
used the product key from the side of computer.{certificate of
Authenticity}as per the manufacturer.
I bet there is no COA for Office stamped on computer. I will find out
tomorrow when I go there.
Any advice would be helpful. Thanks in advance. In the meantime I will
call the manufacturer 800 number.

Hi Joe,

MS Office XP Small Business Edition was somewhat of an anomaly.
It was OEM only package (i.e. it's licensed to a machine once installed rather than to a user, so it isn't generally movable once
activated). Unless the company has volume license keys to use the Office XP Small Business Edition you'd need a unique OEM key to
install and then activate that particular product.
