How do I keep from getting a not enough disk space message

I began to use Office 2000 just this week after using Office 97 for nearly 8
years. We changed only because our newest version of QuickBooks (2005) did
not support Word 97. After installation I upgrades the releases and patches,
but now when I open Word (you always start with a new blank document) and
then try to open an existing document, I get a "There is not enough memory or
disk space to complete the operation" error message. If I close the blank
document first, I can open one of my saved documents, but I can't then open a
second one. I never had this kind of problem with Word 97. I'm running
Windows 98 O/S on a Pentium 4 Gateway computer with 11 GB of hard disk free
space and 256 of RAM. My system shows a 56% free resource level, so I have no
idea where this disk space or memory issue is coming from.

Sounds like you are running Norton Anti Virus. Open NAV and turn off the
Office Plug in.
