How do I keep the inbox view when I turn mirosoft outlook off

How do I keep the view of inbox with the email messages when I turn Microsoft
out look off and then back on. It used to be fine that when I open outlook by
default I see inbox view with email messages in the right pane. I am not sure
what happened to outlook that this is not happening anymore and every time I
open it, in the navigation pane I see all my folders (like contacts,
calendars, inbox and so on) however in the right pane there will the contacts
files, for hours I have tried to fix this that whenever I open outlook I
would see my messages in the right pane but to no avail. It insists for the
contacts files to be viewed in the right pane. Any solution?
