How do I keep the last line in a paragraph from justifying?

In Word 2003, I'm trying to justify a paragraph and the last line is being
justfied as well. The last line only has three of four words in it, so it
looks rather awkward being justified. The only fix I can find is to manually
unjustify this one line, but I thought that there has to be a more elegant
solution.

You just need to press the enter key at the end of the last line!

It sounds like you have a Manual Line Break at the end of the line (Shift +
Enter), instead of a carriage return (Enter). Click on Show/Hide button
(Paragraph sign) and you should see an arrow-like symbol at the end of the
line. Replace by deleting the manual line break and insert a carriage return.

And on the off-chance that this is not the case, try pressing Ctrl+L, then
Ctrl+J. It may be that it has been force-justified by accidentally pressing
Ctrl+Shift+J (Distribute Text) instead of Ctrl+J.
