How do I know if I have beta 2 teachnical refresh?

T

T. Wise

I just received an email saying my One Note trial will expire ...

* For the 2007 Office beta 2 release with no update: 02/01/2007
* For the 2007 Office beta 2 release updated with the beta 2 technical
refresh: 03/31/2007

How can I tell which one I have? "Help/About" says I have Microsoft Office
One Note Trial (12.0.4518.1014).

That build number is the RTM/Trial version.

4017.1003 is B2
4407.1005 is B2TR.

Did the mail really say the OneNote *Trial* would expire???
What you quote has nothing to do with *Trial*.
Betas are something different!

And as you definitely have the *Trial* - as the version number tells -
the dates for the Beta are not relavant for you at all.

Thank you. Does the Trial expire? If so, when?

Yes it does.
But I can not say when.
You might check yourslef what is said on the website.

There should be enough time to bridge the gap until the retail version
is in the shops.

I don't know. I see two conflicting inferences. First, I would think if
you had the TR, you woul know it, as it is prominently displayed ON's
startup. But on the other hand, I have the TR, and my version is lower
than yours.

Trial is 60 days. Check Help, About to see the expiration date.
Where did you get it from? MSDN, TechNet, or
http://trymicrosoftoffice.com?

I just got the same e-mail. I'm not very knowledgeable about this kind of
thing, and am using the beta edition I downloaded from the Microsoft website
to take notes in med school. I can't afford to not have access to my notes
come 2/01/07. Will I still be able to open these files after that date? And
do I need to purchase the One Note 2007 software (apparently the release date
is 01/30/07) or do I just need to upgrade the program to continue it after
Feb. 1st? I guess my real question is; What do I do to make sure I have
access to all my notes and can keep using the program?

Under the Help/About option the information on the program is listed as:
Microsoft Office One Note 2007 (Beta) (12.0.4017.1003) MSO (12.0.4017.1003)
BETA

Thanks!

The program you have right now will stop working February 1. If you
download the trial from http://trymicrosoftoffice.com before then, you
will get a 60 days trial of the final version of OneNote 2007. To
install it, remove the current version (and all other Office 2007 beta
apps you have installed), and then install the one you downloaded (look
at my RTM issues page if you need some guidance through that process).
You will be able to purchase OneNote 2007 (or an activation code to make
the trial edition fully usable) on/after January 30. My suggestion would
be that you install the trial towards the end of January.

I can't find any expiration date in Help/About. I don't recall where I
downloaded it from - I think it was MSDN.

If it was MSDN or TechNet, then you have a fully functional copy of
Office that won't expire.

Try Help/Activate product. The expiration date appears in the dialog.

That's the RTM build, but the build is irrespective of the licensing
type (volume license, retail, trial, etc.)
