How do I let 2 or more Users enter to a single database?

I would like to assist a friend in setting up a new database in 2003. She has
already created more than 20 tables and some forms. She wants her clerks to
be able to enter data from their desks on a single database, running on a
server. She took a class and has referred to this as "splitting", as in
putting the forms on each PC, thus "splitting" them from the database server.
From my understanding, she needs to open the access to the database through
designation of the tables/fields as "shared".
where do I go for more information?
