How do I limit The Outlook 2003 calendar to a 5 year span?

I have a user who is getting the following error when synching with his
handheld:

" -- FOLDER: Calendar
Warning: 0x20009c9a Failed to convert Outlook date to handheld date.
<1001, 01/01/4501 00:00:00> The maximum handheld date is 12/31/2031
23:59:59. Please adjust the "End Date" in the Outlook record " (01/01/4501
00:00:00 - 01/01/4501 00:00:00)" and synchronize again."

He wants to limit the Outlook calendar to a 5 year span. Is there a way to
either resolve the error or to limit the Outlook calendar span? Thanks.
