My computer recently killed by hard disc and I had to have a new one
installed. When I try to load Office 2000 from discs i bought at Staples for
my original disc, my computer says will not load because it cannot find a
previous edition.

How can I load office 2000 on my new disc? Appreciate any help.

Charlie

You obviously have an upgrade edition of Office. You need a qualifying
product. What did you use before?

JoAnn,
Thank you for the lead. I was stuck and now I know I need to go back to the
manufacturer. I hope they will be able to help as this computer came with
some software.
Thanks again for the quick reply. I know this was simple for you, but it
was not for me.
Best Regards,
Charlie

Now you have a problem. I'd put money on your computer manufacturer telling
you they can't help. Because it was an OEM, and an old one at that, they're
going to tell you it's MS's issue *HOWEVER* Microsoft says if it's
preinstalled, it's the manufacturer's issue.

I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that I'm wrong...again.

If your OEM doesn't help as JoAnn has quite correctly anticipated you
will need to find old MS Works program from Amazon or Ebay (last resort
dare I say). Works 6 would be a qualifying product for this unless you
can find any Office 97 programs (word, excel etc) for cheap either from
Amazon or Microsoft's Marketplace.
