How do I lock a page so elements don't move?

I am copying pictures into Word -- sometimes the picture covers the whoile
page -- and then both typing in text and doing text boxes. When I have had to
modify previous pages, unexpected changes have occurred on other pages, i.e.,
the text boxes moved or disappeared behind a picture! I would like to know
how I can "lock" (and unlock) each page as I complete it so that, if I return
to modify an object or text box, the other pages will not be affected.

First, you have to accept that there is no such thing as a "page" in the
structure of a Word document so you can't "lock" what isn't there :) You
might have a look here for more detail:

All inserted objects in a Word doc are attached to the text in one way or
another. Follow the above with the following:

Quite honestly, if you intend to include many images and/or want to make
positioning easy on yourself you'd do best to use a different program
designed for page layout, such as MS Publisher. You "can" control floating
graphics in a Word doc but it takes a great deal of patience & understanding
to maintain the control most users are looking for :)
