How do I lock a picture to prevent downloads?

As an art based business, we receive a lot of concerns from artists about
their images being used on our website. I was wondering if there is any way
to lock pictures as "read only" or some other format that will prevent
downloads.

No. If they're on a page, they are already cached in the visitor's
computer.
You can create some low resolution images that nobody would want, or
watermark them.

You should search this newsgroup. The question comes up multiple times
weekly.

You can put js in the header that will keep them from right-clicking on the
pic (to d/l), but as was mentioned before, there's no real way to stop it.

Then why did you mention it?

As a reassurance that the information was correct, that Tom knew what he was
talking about. Slow day, huh, Bob?
