how do i logon to microsoft exchange

I am Trying to print adresses on envelopes and labes. So i go into the
envelopes and lables option under the tools menu. I then click on the adress
book button and this message comes up **either there is no default mail
client or the current mail client cannont fulfill The messaging request,
please run microsoft outlook and set up a default mail client.** I checked
my out look and the make outlook my default mail cleint option is selected.
i tried again and it did the same thing butthis time it also said ** logon
Failed you must logon to microsoft exchange to access your adress book.
Error Code "unspecified error". does anyone know what is wrong. I just
updated to office 2003 from office 2000 and i used this option alot. I would
really appreciate any suggestions on this subject.

Are you using Outlook or Outlook EXPRESS? These are two entirely different
programs (despite the similar names). Word can't work with OE, just with
Outlook.

If you do have Outlook, then try asking this in an Outlook newsgroup, as those
people have a better idea what could be wrong with the Exchange functionality
underlying Outlook. Be sure to mention the version of Outlook and of Windows.

When I upgraded Outlook to version 2003, there were a few issues relating to
address book that produced a similar message. The answer for me was to
delete the address book(s) from Outlook - tools > e-mail accounts > view
directories and address books then add an additional address book choosing
Outlook address book. This corrected the internal pointers in the program.
Do check that the contacts list property is flagged to show Outlook Address
Book as an e-mail address book.
