how do I make a label for a DVD using microsoft word 2003

If you mean for the disc itself, then not only is it virtually impossible,
but because of the high rotation speeds of DVDs it is undesirable to affix
printed labels. If you mean for the case then use landscape mode and a three
cell table of the correct size (front, spine and back.) and fill the cells
with your content.

Far, far better, buy an application that will do the job properly - see
Surething CD Labeler.
