How do I make a project as Enterprise Project?

Vinaya Krishna

When I publish a project to Project Server, it is shown in the list of
projects. However this is not taken as ENTERPRISE project. This project is
shown as workgroup.

I need to mark this project as ENTERPRISE. Please let me know how this can
be done.

You are making a fundamental mistake in using Project Server, which is
publishing an .mpp file to PWA (a nonenterprise project is usually an .mpp
file). Therefore, I would recommend that your organization perform the
following steps to correct this situation:

1. Your Project Server administrator should delete the project from the
Project Server database

2. Your Project Server administrator should disable the publishing of
nonenterprise projects (in PWA, click Admin - Server configuration and then
select the "Allow only enterprise projects to be published to this server"
option)

3. You should import the nonenterprise project into the Project Server
database using the Import Project wizard (in Microsoft Project Professional,
click Tools - Enterprise Options - Import Project to Enterprise)

In step #3 above, pay close attention to the page in the Wizard that deals
with resources. Be sure to match all resources in the project with
enterprise resources found in the Enterprise Resource Pool. Hope this
helps.

Dear Dale,

Thanks for the immediate response.

I have done the first two steps successfully.

For 3rd step, I opened the MPP file and the option "Import project to
enterprise" is disabled on my Project Professional. Hence I am unable to
publish this project information. Please help me to resolve this.

It sounds like you are not logged into Project Server through Microsoft
Project Professional. Therefore, please refer to the following FAQ for the
steps to setup your user login account in Microsoft Project Professional:

http://www.projectserverexperts.com/Shared Documents/CreatePMLoginAccount.htm

Please follow the directions specified in the above FAQ. After you close
Microsoft Project Professionl, and then relaunch the software, you will be
prompted to connect to Project Server. After doing so, you should not open
the .mpp file. Instead, simply click Tools - Enterprise Options - Import
Project to Enterprise, select the nonenterprise project, and then follow
each of the steps in the wizard to import the project. Hope this helps.

I have completed steps 1 & 2 successfully. However I was unable to do step
3. When I opened the MPP file, the option "Import project to enterprise" is
disabled in project professional. I am not sure what is wrong. Please help
resolve this issue.
