How do i make a survey?

Hi - i'm new to this program. I'd like to setup a survey for interviewing
people. want to create a form with rating questions and open-ended responses.
and then have the numerical ratings automatically averaged and then have a
way to review the typed qualitative responses. currently, i use a web based
survey tool to do this. seems like there would be some way to do this in
infopath w/o having to become a computer programmer. anyone have experience
or advice on this?
