How do I make Contacts auto add the brackets around the area code

On some computers, Contacts automatically adds the paranthanthese around the
area code and also adds the dash after the prefix.

My Contacts won't do that. Can I set it somehow?

Outlook does that automatically once you have set the dialing location
correctly for your operating system.
