how do I make office 2007 look like older versions of office?

Daniel

I recently purchased a new computer which came with office 2007 small
business edition. I want to know if it is possible to make the componets of
office 2007 appear like older versions of office, ie get rid of all the
stupid themes and colour schemes etc so it looks like the older versions I am
used to. If not I will be force to downgrade back to an older version

When you buy a new car, do you make it look like your old one?

Hello; just a comment regarding cars... When I buy a car I expect the
steering wheel, pedals and all other important controls to be where they used
to be. In case of MS Office 2007 - the steering wheel is in the trunk, the
break pedal - in the glove compartment and the lights switch - on the roof.
We have been forced to learn Office all over again. Unquestinably, learning
itself is a good thing to do, keeps your brain active and this is supposed to
be good for the brain. However, I dare to say that many people would prefer
to spend their time in a more productive way - learning for instance foreign
languages. Why on earth is the new tab [Home] called "Home" when it deals
with text formatting ..why "Insert a footnote" is under "References" while
all other things that you "inser" are under "Insert". Things we all have
mastered for years, things we could do with closed eyes - we now have to
learn all over again. I find the new interface absolutely horrible and
non-intuitive. Apart from this - it consumes about 20% of the screen area.

I have addintools installed. I like it. I try using the ribbon as much
as I can to get used to finding the features that I use, but more
often than not I cannot find some of the more unusual functions and I
have to go back to the add-on to use the function.

My personal opinion to M$ is that they should have made office work
like IE 7 works. Have the ribbon be the default but, when you push
Alt, the old menus appear. This would encourage us to use the ribbon
but would short circuit the frustration of not being able to find
things.

Hi Brian,

While pressing Alt doesn't bring up the old menus in Office 2007 apps, the old keyboard shortcuts do work for the most part, both
Alt and Ctrl ones and if the keyboard shortcuts are displayed in your Add-in you may want to then also try that sequence in the
ribbon.

For example, in Word, to get to the options menu you can use
the 2007 shortcut of Alt, F, I
or the pre-2007 one of Alt, T, O

For a variety of interactive, viewable and printable was/is 'maps' this link may be helpful. :)

I am so with you - I made the mistake of purchasing Office 2007 instead of
2003 and am completely regretting it.

I have had it for several months now (albeit only on our business PC - not
on my home PC or any of the PCs I use at work). So I only use it one day a
week but I just can't get to grips with it.

I am an IT professional (MCSE, CCNP, Citrix etc) and I use new applications
all day but this new office is just doing my head in. I'm reluctant to give
up MS Office as I would consider myself to be an advanced user (VBA coding
etc) but I'm seriously considering embracing Open Office. Microsoft PLEASE
give us a way to get our old UI back!!!!

Eileen, while you're at it why don't you go back to driving a Packard or an
Edsel.
