how do i make onenote pick up small dashes and dots?

If you just make a small dot or dash on OneNote, often times it disappears.
Well, I write math down and so sometimes subscripts, the pyramid of dots
(therefore), dashes, equivalency signs, etc will get dropped. This is simply
unacceptable for my line of use.

I have encounterd the same problem when taking notes in law school. I
usually only draw the line a little longer, or make the symbols bigger. But
besides that, its probably a "feature" not a bug!
