How do I make regular phone calls using my headset and computer?

I can't even get started! What I want to do is plug in my regular phone line
to my computer and use my headset to make standard phone calls. I start
making the call using outlook but can't get a connection. I suspect that the
problem could be the modem settings I am using. Does anyone know the right
settings to use?

Outlook can dial the call for you but that's all -- it's not set up to
actually connect and allow you to talk through your computer. You'd have to
attach a headset to your phone or just pick up the handset once the call is
dialed.
