How do I make tabs default to "Left" on the ruler?

F

Everytime I double-click on the horizontal ruler to create a new tab, it
automatically defaults to a center-aligned tab rather than a left-aligned
tab. Thiis is a new issue, and I can't seem to find a reason why it is
happening, nor how to correct the problem and get my tabs to once again
default to a left-aligned tab when I double-click on the horizonital ruler.
Help!!

Take a look at the tiny square just to the left of the top ruler...in
the upper/left corner of your document window. Does that show a L tab
or a | tab?

If you see |, that means you clicked that "button" and changed the
default to a centered tab. Just click it a few more times until it
cycles back to the L tab and leave it there. Then your defaults will
be left aligned tabs.

Thanks so much for your reply, Suzanne! No, I hadn't tried that, but it's
exactly what I needed to do. This issues was driving me crazy, and I
couldn't see the forest for the trees on how to get back to where I started
from. Insanity period over, and peace of mind has been restored. :)

Thanks again for your much needed assistance. Felicia
