How do I make the footer uneditable.

Hi I am creating a PPT template for a client.

They want the footer to be un-editable. Locked. So future users of the template cannot remove the footer. (It's a bunch of legalese as you can imagine).

Client claims (and as I recall this is true) that this feature was available in earlier versions of PPT. (I am using 2008 for Mac, they are using 2007 for PC). But dang if none of us can figure it out in the current versions.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Ann

No, afraid not. At least not without forcing each end user to install an
addin.

You could convert the background + footer to an image and use that as the new
background. A user couldn't edit it, though they could still remove it.

But if you put a text box containing the desired footer text on the slide
master rather than using PPT's own footer/header feature, you'll get something
like what you and the client are used to seeing. Footer/Header handling has
changed in 2007, and has made the footer editable on each slide.

It's by no means uneditable, but at least the user won't be able to select it,
edit it, delete it from the individual slide.
