How do I make vertical column borders in Outlook 2003 Mail view?

Visible separations (vertical lines) between columns used to be in Outlook
2000 but they disappeared after upgrading to Outlook 2003. The screen is
more difficult to read without them. Anyone know how I can restore them?
I've clicked all over and cannot find the setting. Even slight shading of
the columns would be helpful. Thanks.

click on the row of field names in the message list and choose custom - then
Other Settings to change the shading and lines.
