How do I modify a form after the form fields have been "filled in"

I have a two step document that will require two different individuals fill
in forms as welll as add some hyperlinks to the actual document. When you
remove protection after the form has been filled in and then re-enable it the
form field information is all reset to default.

Is there any way around this or does the first person doing the hyperlink
editing have to do their part first then protect the form?

It takes a macro to reprotect a form without clearing the fields. See

What version of Word are you using? Word 2003 and 2007 no longer reset the
form field data and if you're using Word 2002 if you click the Protect
button on the Forms toolbar your data won't be reset.
