How do I move a subject from desktop to a folder(file?)

I am very new at the computer but catching on quick! I have filled my
desktop with pages that should be in a file or folder. How do I get the
information and icon off my screen and into a file? I have tried repeatedly
but it does not delete from my desktop.
Thank you; Dee R.

You need to open Windows Explorer where you can see the contents of your
Desktop a a list of files. Drag them from the desktop folder (using the
right mouse button) and drop them onto My Documents folder. As you drop
them, you will be asked if you want to Move or Copy the files: choose Move.
