How do I "neck" a Project Summary task bar to reflect split task?

I have a simple line item summary schedule, that has split tasks in it -
however i only want to show the summary task bar.
Is it possible to show a thinner summary task bar at the point where the
sub-task is split?

Andy,
This newsgroup is intended for developer type questions/issues (e.g.
VBA, etc.) and your question is of a general nature. Please see FAQ 24 -
Project Newsgroups, on our MVP website at:
http://www.mvps.org/project/faqs.htm

However to answer your question, it depends on what you mean by, "...at
the point where the sub-task is split." If you simply want to show the
subtask Gantt bars with their splits on the summary line, you need to do
two things. First, select all subtasks and then go to Project/Task
Information/General tab. Check the option to "Roll up Gantt bar to
summary". Then select the summary line and go to Project/Task
Information/General tab and check the option to "Hide task bar". Just be
advised that rolling up subtask Gantt bars to the summary line can get
messy and confusing particularly if there are a lot of subtasks and
their duration periods overlap.

Hope this helps.
