How do I open a document in Lotus Notes from a Word document ?

I'm to develop a solution where a user should be able to transfer data from a
Word document to a notes document, read som data from an XML file, and save
the word document in a specific folder on the user's temp-dir. I guess this
is to be programmed in VS, but I have no experience with this language or
Word-Notes integration. Can anyone help i.e. with a reference to some
documentation or with som personal experience ?
