Hi John,
The file types you mentioned (.tif and .mdi) are graphic content files rather than documents. .Mdi is a MS proprietary one based on
..TIF. Both of those file types can contain multiple page pictures. A .TIF file can be inserted into a Word document
(Insert=>Picture) to show the top page, an .MDI file format is usually not recognized by that method.
If you're using Word 2003 or 2007 you can open the .MDI/.TIF files in
MS Office Document Imaging and then 'send' the content to Word.
MS Office Document Imaging is an optional part of MS Office 2003 and 2007 but it is not installed by default. (It can be installed
from the
Microsoft Office choice listed in Add/Remove Programs by clicking on the [Change] button) In your case it sounds like you have
already installed it and used it to scan.
