How do I open attachments, make changes, then forward them?

I would like to know how to open an attachment to an e-mail, make changes to
it and send it back to the person I received it from or forward it on to
someone knew. I have not done this before but was told I will need to be
proficient in this for a new job. The answer in the simplest terms
(non-computer speak) would be greatly appreciated.

I suggest you save the attachment to disk, open and edit it, save it again,
and then send it as an attachment to whomever you need to. Don't try to edit
the attachment directly by opening it from the original email you received
it in...that's going to be a temp file.

When looking for a new job, don't try to snow them.

What e-mail program are you using? Version, etc. They are all slightly
different.

Save the attachment to disk, make your changes, reply to the original
message, and attach your newly changed object.
