How do I open office documents after technical office update

If you are using Symantec/Norton AntiVirus, try disabling the
Office Plugin that comes with it (but don't disable Norton
AutoProtect). See http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=329820 "How
to use Office programs with the Norton AntiVirus Office plug-in"
for more information.

I get a similar message when loading a document: "The file ? is not
availble". I'm using Norton Internet Security 2005 and don't know how to
disable the plug-in to enable such documents to open. Can anyone help?

Colin should read the manual that came in the Norton Internet
Security 2005 box and that is available for download from
Norton's website. I don't have NIS2005, so I can't give Colin
specific instructions, but here is what other users have said
about disabling the Office Plugin in newer versions of Norton:

To disable the Office plug-in in Norton AntiVirus 2006:
1. In Norton Protection Center, click Options.
2. Click Norton AntiVirus.
3. Click Miscellaneous.
4. Uncheck Turn Office plug-in on.
5. Click OK.

Open Norton Internet Security 2007
Click the "Norton Internet Security Tab"
Under Settings, click Basic Security - Auto Protect
Configure
From the left panel select Advanced Options
At the bottom, uncheck "Turn on scanning for MS Office documents."
