How do I outdent a task after accidentally indenting a task?

I have accidentally indented 3 tasks, so it appears as if I now have 4
different levels in an outline with three predecessors. I am now unable to
outdent the 3 tasks that I had indented. I have tried everything that has
been listed in the help screens, and nothing has worked so far. Do you have
any suggestions?
