How do I paste a copied picture into a table?

I am trying to paste graphics from powerpoint (selected, grouped, and copied)
as a picture (enhanced metafile) into a microsoft word table. When pasted,
the picture floats somewhere random on the page and the in-line option (which
is myTools/Options/Edit default already) is greyed out in the Format Picture
tabs. How can I paste a picture directly into a table?

It shouldn't be any more difficult than that - just make sure the Insertion
Point is in the table cell you want to paste into.

In order to offer solutions to different behavior you need to mention what
version of Word, more about the nature of what you've copied, as well as the
settings currently in place for the table you're pasting to.
