how do I permanently delete a name from the autocomplete list

I have an old address for a contact in my autocomplete list that keeps coming
back no matter how many times I delete it. Specifically, I type "Joe" and it
comes up with "(e-mail address removed)". I delete it on the autocomplete and
type Joe Smith. The microsoft address book (I'm working at MSFT) comes up
and asks me if I mean Joe Smith who is (e-mail address removed). I accept it, the
email goes. Next time I want to send an email to Joe, I have to do the whole
thing over again. It never seems to learn the "Joe Smith" email address I
really want.

Post makes no sense.
The Outlook Address Book has nothing whatsoever to do with the
autocompletion cache. If you are invoking the address book, you are not
using autocompletion. From your description, we have no clue what you are
actually doing. Please try to post more accurately.
You remove individual addresses from the autocompletion cache by
highlighting the entry when presented in the To: field (the suggested names
list). Use your arrow key to migrate to the entry and then hit your Delete
key before you tab out of the field.

To clear the entire cache, follow the instructions here:

That's what I'm saying. I tried that numerous times. Each time it deletes
it from the list for only that e-mail. Next e-mail, it's back again.

Not possible if you had done what we suggested. Suggest posting more
accurately what you are doing. Your post is patently unclear.
