I have tried everything but am unable to change the font and font size on
my normal template in Word-2003.

Ive never had this problem with earlier releases of Word.

Is Adobe Acrobat 7.0 installed on the computer? If yes, the
Acrobat 7.0 Create Adobe PDF toolbar add-in for Word prevents
Word from automatically saving changes to the normal.dot
template. Choose your preferred font again, set it as the
default, and click "Shift+File | Save All" to force Word to save
the normal.dot template. Alternatively, you can prevent the
Adobe add-in from loading by editing the Windows registry key
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Word\Addins\PDFMaker.OfficeAddin"
and changing the "LoadBehavior" subkey value from 3 to 0, but
you'll lose the PDF toolbar if you do this.

What is the process to disable Adobe 6? I can not find that hkey. I
removed the adobe.dot but did not help. The normal.dot is still locked.

From the FAQ:

28. I can't save my customizations - AutoText, menus, etc.
Can't save normal.dot...
If you have Adobe Acrobat 7 installed see the last section of
http://www.gmayor.com/lose_that_adobe_acrobat_toolbar.htm.
Otherwise, hold down the Shift key when selecting the File
menu and select Save All.

Hope this helps,

I see you have posted similar questions at least three other
times in various newsgroups. From your other posts, I do not
believe the error message you get regarding normal.dot is related
to Adobe Acrobat. My guess is you have a Windows permission
problem or a Windows user profile problem. If you are signed in
to Windows as a limited user, then try signing in as
Administrator or Owner and see if the problem persists.

Hi,

I checked the permissions and I have Administrator.
I use a startup file with some styles. Could that lock normal.dot?

Not sure, but easy enough for you to check... don't use the
startup file and see if the problem persists.

I removed the startup file, but it did not work!
Are there any macros that could lock the template?

I saw your numerous other posts as mentioned, but chose not to
reply to them because I was uncertain about the answer to your
question. Since you asked me directly in this thread, I offered
you my guess (which you half-ignored). It is poor form to hijack
someone else's thread to ask your own unrelated question. It is
also poor form to multipost. If I think of something that might
answer your question, I will reply to one of YOUR numerous other
posts (not in this thread).
