How do I permit Excel to have access to the internet?

I am trying to install PATools label Merge - to be able to print address
labels from our shared contacts for all the xmas cards we will be sending. I
get an error message when I click for the program to be installed in Excel -
it says i have to make sure that any firewall is set to permit excel access
to the internet. I know nothing about firewalls, can anyone help?!

Does anyone know how I would do this?! Any help greatly appreciated!

i was going to provide you
with a suggestion.

but i became curious as to why
a simple labeling program would
have an issue with the firewall
protection.

when i search for you program
i discovered that it doesn't stand up
to scrutinization of its integrity.

the primary souce for the download
was the cnet website. but the download
had a caviat.

then i tried going to the parent
website of the download and it
no longer exists.

therefore it is my recommendation,

DO NOT INSTALL THIS SOFTWARE!!!

consider yourself fortunate your firewall
blocked the download.

For your next/new posting please
ask, "How can i make labels with my Excel data?"

Office doesn't include a firewall, you may access the tech support forum
for the one you installed on your PC.

I know this post is late, but I've only just found this thread and wish
to correct any misunderstandings.

As the author of the PATools software for Excel, I can verify that the
program seeks to access the internet simply to check for updates (and
validate licensing if licensed).

If you have no internet access it does not restrict the functionality.

The primary website for the software is very much up and running at
patools.co.uk (or search the web for us; also find us listed on
Microsoft websites). CNet and other hosting sites often hold old
versions and have old links attached too, hence perhaps former poster
could not perhaps find us?

To whom are you talking and about what?
The "forum" that you are posting in leaches off the Microsoft News servers
in order to make it look far busier than it really is. Everyone who uses the
MS News servers sees your post on it's own - we have NO IDEA what you are
talking about and to whom you are talking.

This is not your fault - the fault lies with the forum owners who do not
explain to members that their posts end up on global Usenet newsgroups.
If you MUST continue to post in this "forum" then please at least quote the
post you are replying to, and do NOT change the subject line.

You would be far better off however, using a news reader and subscribing to
these news groups direct.
