Open the appointment, then click the paper clip icon (or File, insert File).
Find the Excel file you want. Highlight it but don't click it!!
In the bottom right corner there is a drop down arrow and that's where
you'll find Insert as Shortcut (or Hyperlink if your on a newer version).
Click that.
