how do i prevent a cartesion product in access 2007?

I'm bringing 2 tables together and it is creating duplicate information when
there is only one record in one table and more than one record in the second
table. Can I use a coalesce or a union query in Access? Where can I go to
see examples?

Link the matching fields together and right click on the line drawn between.
Select the option for the table you want all records from.
