How do I prevent our PMs from saving NEW projects to our Proj Serv

Hello Dale and Gary,

Quick question.

How do I prevent our PMs from saving NEW projects to our Project Server?

Our PMO would like the PMs to create new projects locally, using a template.
Once the PMO has approved the project then the PMO would import the approved
project to the Project Server.

The best way to do this is to define a process that your PM's must follow
and then make this a training and performance issue. Some time ago, someone
in this newsgroup had a situation such as yours, but where the PMO created
the project and then needed to assign it to the PM. They attempted to
define this process in Project Server by deselecting the Allow state for the
New Project permission for members of the Project Managers group. This did
not work as they had hoped, however, and they got unexpected results.
Changing this setting denied the PM's from creating and saving new projects,
but it also removed the PM's from the Owner list when you select a project
in the Project Center and click the Edit button. Because the PM's no longer
appeared on the Owner list, the PMO could not assign the project to them.
Thus, my recommendation to make it a process within your organization. Hope
this helps.

Yes it does help Dale, Thank you!

This is what I found also in our testing.

However, for what its worth, I thought I had screwed something up wth
Catergory Permission 'Save Project' or Group Permission 'New Project'.

Thanks for the confirmation!
