How do I print contents of a directory/folder?

I'm trying to print out a list of all folders within a folder. When we close
an electronic file, we put that client folder in a folder called archive. I
want to print a list of everything is this directory. How do I do it.

Go to the archive folder and open a DOS prompt. Type "dir /b

dir.txt" (without the quotes) and hit enter. This will put

a list of the contents of the archive folder in a file
called dir.txt, which you can print by loading it into
Notepad, Word, Excel etc.

Loading into Excel is actually a Good Idea because that way
you can develop an electronic database of the files in the
folder which you can update when additions are made.

HI Jay,

I've read that referred link before, and again just now.
Everything is almost exactly as the article states except:
-- There is no File | Print.
-- You print thru the File | Page Setup, or by using the printer
Icon on the toolbar.

Also, when I do a Print Preview OR actually Print, all I get is
the page's border and the Header Row of field names - no data; no
filenames, etc; just blank paper as far as data goes.
It looks fine onscreen but selected or not, nothing prints.

I even printed the article and followed it a sentence at a time;
pretty sure I didn't omit anything.

XP Pro SP2+, Office 2002, all updated to latest & pretty sure no
malware.
Yes, printing works in Calendar, Contacts, doing finds, etc.,
just not in this case.
OH, and there is a File | Print in the Outlook Shortcuts view but
not in Other Shortcuts.

Any thoughts on what I might be missing?
I'm no guru but I'm fairly competent at these things so you
don't have to step-by-step me, but others might appreciate it.
Truthfully, I don't think I've ever seen anyone outright say
it works?

I suspect this was written for earlier versions of Outlook. I fail on step 1
("Open Outlook and make sure that the Outlook Bar is active (View, Outlook
Bar)") since there is no Outlook Bar on the View menu or the View | Toolbars
menu in Outlook 2003. So it's not unreasonable to assume that other parts of
the UI have changed as well.

I'm not very familiar with Outlook (any version), but it would appear that
the pane at the left is the Outlook Bar (now apparently called the
Navigation Pane). If I click on the Shortcuts arrow at the bottom right of
that, I get shortcuts that include My Documents. When I click on this,
however, I get an Explorer window. Its File menu doesn't include Print, and
the File | Print dialog in Outlook prints (part of) what's shown in the
Outlook window, not the Explorer window. If I close Outlook, the Explorer
window remains open.

I suspect this is something that's been completely changed in recent
versions of Outlook. Either that or I'm missing something, too.

I know where you're coming from. No, I don't think you're
missing anything but I don't know '03 at all. Looks like one of
those forgotten items or it was removed rather than fixed
somehow. I guess it's just one of the dangers of using things
that aren't advertised. But there are so MANY of that sort of
thing ... ! The name-game often annoys me too the way they move
and relabel things. Oh well, such is liff?

Yes, I suspect it was written for Outlook 2000 -- although I can't
tell, because all I have now is Outlook 2003.

I think it was in another thread, one about seeing simultaneous views
of two different folders, where I recommended a third-party file
manager such as 2xExplorer. I don't think anyone other than Microsoft
was inconsiderate enough to ship one (how many iterations of Windows
Explorer have there been?) without a Print function.
