How do I print notes on handouts in powerpoint?

In powerpoint, I would like to type my notes next to my slides and print them
in handout format (3 slides to a page). Is this possible to do?

You can send to MS word to do the job. Click File > Send to > MS Word,
select notes next to slides. Does that work?

How do you do it with Office 2007? I couldn't find MS Word as a Send option.

In 2007 it's Office Button | Publish | Create Handouts in Word.
