How do I print out a two coloured vertical gradient background?

I'm trying to print out a gradient background, and I've enabled the setting
(this being on Word 2007), but when it prints out, it comes out as many
vertical stripes; it looks fine on print preview, and I've tried it on many
different printers, but it still comes out wrong; what do I do?
