How do I print rule lines in One Note

I am a new MS One note user and would like my notes to print with the rule
lines rather than as a blank background. How do I turn on a Print with rule
lines option?

Aloha garym,

Sorry, the rule lines don't print. If it's really important you may be able
to create an image of the rule lines then put that image in your notes as
a background image and print that.

Tried that by setting a page from Journal as background pic.
Unfortunately, OneNote doesn't map pixels 1-to-1 so when you print the
page, the rule lines are of different thickness from one another,
resulting in a poor document appearance.

Sorry to hear that but thanks for the reply. Can't imagine that MS has not
had the request before.

Aloha garym,

We do hear that request from time to time, it's just had lower priority than
other feature requests.

The rule lines are really just guidelines for handwriting, not intended so
much as a formatting element in themselves. I wouldn't be surprised to see
the option to print them in a future version however.

I suppose you could screen capture your notes with the rule lines, paste
that into something like Paint and print from there, but that's a pretty
kludgy solution.

graphing real hard to use when its printed out.

I really hope this will be fixed in the first service pack.

Printing lines is essential for math students and others....

Please add this feature in ASAP.

Set all the Rule Lines to : None.
This will remind you they don't print.

They are not lines really ... more just guidelines for keeping the INK
straight.

up on the lines perfectly?

Yes. They are lines. And they should be able to be printed if you
want them.

And I know they don't print. That fact is obvious and does not need a
reminder.

Agree with Nora. Made a sketch using a tablet PC that I printed and left for
my contractor to mark up. Would be nice if he could work off the same grid
lines that I did when creating the sketch. Seems like a pretty simple task -
can easily print column and row lines in Excel.

I already explained that - the rule lines are a guide for handwriting.

Printing rule lines would be a new feature and there will be few, if any,
new features in the service pack. It is a popular request and may well make
it into the next version. In the meantime, screen grab the rule lines then
paste them back on to the page as a picture and send it to the background.
Then they will print.
