How do I print sequential ticket numberss

How do I print a sequentially incremented number on tickets. I have produced
an envelope-size ticket for a charity event and I want each ticket to have a
unique ticket number starting from 1. I also want to print the tickets three
to a page, so that if I ask for 300 copies I will only use 100 sheets of
paper, but if that isn't possible I will have to settle for a lot of paper
wastage. I am using Ms Publisher 2000-SR1.
