HOw do I prohibit edits/deletes on a DAP

I seem to have the opposite problem of many posts to this forum. I have
created a simple database, and a Data access page to allow non Access users
to update the data table(s) using IE. I WANT to prohibit users from changing
an existing entry or deleting an entry. Basically they can creat new recordds
ONLY.
I have been unable to find a properties option on the DAP to prevent edits
or deletes. I was able to remove the delete button from the page toolbar.

Have read several posts about people NOT being able to edit data, and
several references to "allowedit", "AllowDelete" properties. I cannot locate
these fields on the data access page. Are these properties set on teh data
access page or in the data table before creating the DAP?

For my testing purposes, teh DAP only has the title line, a field section,
and the navigation toolbar. Again I cannot locate any edit/delete/update
properties on any of these sections of the DAP.

Thansk fro your usual fine tips and suggestions.

I just realized I failed to post my versions. Using Access 2000 on Windows
2000 OS. in case it makes a difference.

In design mode, right-click on the group control (Header + Detail +
Navigation Pane) and chose "Group Level Properties" to have access to the
AllowAddition, AllowEdit and AllowDelete properties. If there are many
group controls, chose the right one. You can also use the very tiny
combobox that you can see in the header section.

For the DataEntry property, chose "Page Properties" and then click on the
Data tab. With the DataEntry property set to try, users will be able to
only add new records without seeing any previous records.

Apologies for being so hard headed this morning, but I simply cannot discover
how to access this "group control" you refer to. Is this an area on the data
access page design screen or a menu/toolbar option?

Right clicking on the title, header, or navigation section opens a menu
which includes a properties item. I have tried to shift click, ctrl clcik,
and Alt click to select all three areas together without success.

What am I missing, in order to open this "group level properties" you refer
to?

Again, thanks for your assistance

I was not Aware that there are two different design pages. I can only open
the graphical placement page.
I am pretty sure I am working with a data Access Page-- I created this via
the page module, basing my page on a table in the database.

I am attempting to "edit" or access these controls after selecting the Data
Access Page in the page module, then clicking on the Design button.

Allow me to reiterate that I am working with Access 2000 running on the
Windows 2000 OS.

The Microsoft Script Editor can be opened from the View menu by chosing the
HTML source option or using the Alt+Shift+F11 keyboard shortcut or by
clicking on its icon on the toolbar menu. The icon looks like the one used
for Visual Studio.

Does your design mode in Access 2000 looks like the image that I've posted
previously?

Apologies, I forgot to mention in last post that I did not find any
attachment. I attempted to include a screen shot of my "view" , but this
interface does not accept my normal paste method. Possibly because I am using
the Microsoft discussion groups site rather than the google URL you posted.
Our organization authorizes individual URL's on an as needed basis. It may
take several days before that site is available to me. RED Tape don't you
know, but it does keep our band width manageable!

I did get into the script screen using the View menu> HTML view, however was
still unable to find any properties other than those available from the right
click in normal design view
Again, thanks for your attempts to head me in the right direction.

Makes perfect sense when I see it on your screen print. Only my Screen has
the "Header: table1" but no drop down arrow to open. Evidently there is a
control somewhere that prevented this little control from displaying on mine.

Thanks for all your patience!

This time with the right-click on the page:
http://arscim.fqse.qc.ca/dap3.png

Notice the Page, Group Level and Element properties at the bottom. The
cursor was located just below the "Click here and type title text" before
right-clicking. If you don't see these, then probably that you will have to
upgrade to A2003 or event better, to forget about DAP.
