Hi Jayanthi,

The "proposed" booking type for resources only appears in the Project
Professional versions, not the Standard version of Project. Are you
using Project Professional with Project server?

I'm not sure what you mean by "tentative" resources. Are you trying to
assign resources and are not sure specifically which person (Bob or Sue
for example) you will have available to your project? One option is to
initially create the resources with job titles for names (for example:
System Admin1). Go ahead and assign the System Admin1 to the
appropriate tasks. Later on when you know who the "System Admin1"
person will be, return to the resource sheet and replace the System
Admin1 name with the real name of the resource.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

I am using MS Project Standard 2003 and I dont see this booking tab or
booking type in my resource information screen. I have PROPOSED time in my
resource graphs and I dont want it shown. I would like to know why its even
there and how to remove or not show it. I didnt set it up this, atleast not
on purpose.

Thanks,

Hello tjntx26,

As I noted in the message below, proposed is only meaningful in
Project Professional.

The option for "proposed" shows on the General tab of the resource
information dialog box and says either "committed" or "proposed".

You can turn off the display of proposed in the Resource Graph
through Format > Bar Styles. Set the Proposed booking "Show As" to
"Don't show" for both filtered resources and resources.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hello Julie,
I still cant get to this "proposed" area in the general tab of the resource
information dialog box. When I get there I dont see a proposed tab, check
box, drop down or anything that says proposed, I did some other research and
found that it may be in the details section on the general tab of the
resource information box. When I click on the detail button I get a ms
outlook problem, it trys to find an email address and then eventually crashes
and kicks me out of ms project.

I dont have an option for proposed booking in the bar styles box. I only
have Selected resources with over Allocated work and allocated work, then I
have resource with over allocated work and allocated work.

Please Help,
TJNTX26

Hi,

There is no proposed tab. I don't have Project Standard here to
check and it's possible that the "Booking Type" drop-down doesn't
even exit in Project Standard -- only in Project professional.

Did you create the file using Project Standard or was it created in
Project Professional and you opened it in Project Standard?

If all else fails, zip it and email it to me. I'll see if I can
shut off the "Proposed" option. My email is prjng AT maine.rr.com
Remove spaces and replace the AT with an @.
