How do I publish my web site after moving it to a new server?

I have had a Front Page web site up and running for several years. The site
has been moved by the server administrator to a new server. The web is
present when you type in the URL into the Browser and is appears to be
running on the new server but I can not publish to it. When I try to publish
Front page a text box pops up saying it cannot find the server. Is there
some kind of cash that I need to clear in Front page that is attempting to
open the old location? I have cleared the temp files on internet explorer.
How do I reset FP if indeed that is the problem.

You get FP Cleaner at http://www.95isalive.com/fixes/fpclean.htm which will
clean things up for you. How long has the new server been up? If it was
just set up the problem could be that the new DNS hasn't propagated yet. It
may take 24 - 48 hours for that. Has the old server been shut down so
there's no confusion there?

Also, does the new server have the FrontPage Server Extensions installed?
If the server has been up for a while and FPClean didn't help contact the
server administrator.

Ok, thanks for responding. The administrator of the server had already asked
me to delete the IE temp files and I had done that. The utility that you
suggested was downloaded and I ran it on FP which reported sendint 48 files
to the trash bin. When I tried to publish I still got the message that the
server could not be found. I can access the web control panel and the FP
Extensions are installed. I am not sure if the old server is still active.
It still looks like PF just will not go to the new location.
I have sent our dialogue to the server administrator so hopefully we all can
figure out what is the problem.
Have you got any other ideas?

Can you try it on another PC?

Ask your new hosting company what the IP address is of your domain on the new server.
It will be 4 sets of numbers separated by periods. Example 123.45.67.890
Then open a command window by clicking Start > Run and typing in CMD and clicking OK.

In the window that opens type: ping www.yourwebsitename.com or .net or what ever is correct.
Note the IP address that is returned.

If it does not match the one that your new host gave you, it means that your new IP address has not yet propagated
throughout
the domain name system.
Keep checking by pinging your URL www.yourwebsitename.com and when the number returned matches the one your new host
gave you, you will be able to publish to your new server.

Note that it can take up to 48 hours for the new IP address to propagated throughout the DNS system.
