how do I put a symbol on the toolbar

I want to put a square root sign (or any other symbols)on the toolbar. so
that I can use it often, just by going to that symbol on tool bar.

I don't believe you can assign a specific symbol to a toolbar button without
using a macro, but you can assign keyboard shortcuts to symbols or save them
as AutoCorrect entries.
