I'm using Outlook 2002 on XP. All was going well, till hubby did "something"
and then attempts to use Send/Receive resulted in "The Operation Failed"
error messages. He could send OK, but not receive. The Test Message sending
came back as successful. I didn't find anything helpful in the
troubleshooting, and it appeared as though his user profile was missing. I
had set one up using his name, months ago when we switched to Charter.net,
but now the only profile showing on his desktop was what appeared to me to be
a generic one named Outlook. So, like a dummy, I created a new profile
called Mike, then deleted the one called Outlook, and ACCKKKK, I've lost all
his contacts and folders and current emails, etc. He really needs this
stuff. I know it's still 'out there' on the machine somewhere, but how do I
get Humpty-Dumpty put together again? I'm close to desperate at this time,
because a lot of this is for his thesis.
Obviously my most pressing issue is to get the profile and data files
connected back up, which may or may not (but probably will?) solve the
Send/Receive issue.
