I've set my email tracking options to receive a read receipt but do
not
receive them from all people. Is that because they have the option to
not
reply? I would like to be notified in all cases. Can Outlook 2000
provide
this? Does Outlook 2003?
It is the *recipient's* choice as to whether or not they honor your read
receipt *request*. All you can do is request a read receipt from them.
They can configure their e-mail client to always send the read receipt,
prompt to send it (which means most will just say No), or completely
ignore the request and NEVER send a read receipt. You will NOT be able
to determine is all your recipient's have read your mail(s). You'll
know for only those recipients that chose to tell you.
There are 3rd party services that can be used for tracking. The
recipient doesn't get your e-mail. They get a notice that your e-mail
is waiting for them but they have to get it from somewhere else. When
they retrieve from that tracking mail server then your account gets
updated and you know they yanked it. However, just as with read
receipts, the recipients still don't have to retrieve your e-mail from
the tracking server and may simply delete the notice e-mail.
