How do I record a slideshow for playback on a DVD?

I have always recorded my slideshows onto CD & viewed them on my computer.
Now that DVD's are the popular thing my question is, "Can I record my
slideshow on a DVD that will play on any DVD player and view on a
television" ?
My DVD R/R/RW/DL is a NEC-3540.SILVER--- Thanks Agnes
