how do i record audio in word?

one of my assignments this semester is to record an interview with someone
and my professor wants the recording ideally to be done through the computer.
he has a mac, and he told us how to record notes on a mac, but he didn't know
how to do it on pc. he thought that word 2007 might have an audio note-taking
ability, but i can't find it anywhere. any suggestions?

MacWord 2004 has a notebook layout that includes audio-recording. This
feature does not exist in Windows Word. However, the feature in MacWord
is borrowed from/inspired by the windows OneNote program.

I'm sure there are lots of alternatives for recording audio on
windows--but Word is not one of them.
